This past weekend I was at Oni-con, which ended up being the last convention I plan to go to for this year. It's been an awesome year for cosplaying; I've learned a ton of new techniques and got to meet a bunch of great cosplayers. I think I need a little bit of a break from pressing deadlines though. x__x

post san japan and mechacon
MAN THIS IS A BELATED ENTRY. Between cosplay and starting up my classroom again, things have been pretty busy. I scrambled to get Madoka done for San Japan, as well as helped my sister make a Deku Tree costume (which turned out hilarious). After that I finished up a few things for Dagger, as SEC-C went to Mechacon together as the Kuroshitsuji Circus. We're still waiting for our shots from the photoshoot we had out at the Spanish Plaza next to the Riverwalk, but I think they'll turn out great.
This was the first time I tried taking a costume by plane, and I have to say that if I had anything more complicated it would have been tricky. We've t

I went to KamikazeCon on Saturday, dressed as Amulet Clover from Shugo Chara. I DON'T KNOW WHY I LEAVE THINGS IN THE CAR EVER. I packed in the morning so I didn't have to stop back home, then went to work. Once I pulled out my wig I realized my giant clover had melted off of its safety pin. An easy fix, but it could have been avoided just as easily. I drafted one sleeve a little on the small side, but not too small that it didn't fit. This morning I realized the sleeve had left abrasions on my arm. I'll be redoing the sleeves before wearing it to Oni-con. ><
Overall, it was a very small con; I've never seen so many parents accompanying their

SEC-C spent Thursday as Legends of the Hidden Temple contestants, Friday as Powerpuff Girls Z, and Saturday as Magic Knight Rayearth in final armor form. We learned a valuable lesson on Saturday: southern June heat at 4 PM + photoshoot outside in full armor costumes and wigs is NOT a good idea. XD;
For our next group cosplay, we'll be going to Mechacon as Joker, Doll, Beast, and Dagger from Kuroshitsuji! I'm half-way done with Dagger - all that's left is his vest and spats. I might try to make a few daggers (apparently I can't resist even that kind of prop :p) if there's time. For now, I've resumed working on Amulet Clover for Kamikaze Con.
